******************************************** 1. Do you have treatment for filariasis or lymphodema? Yes we treat all kinds of lymphodema including Lymphatic Filariasis 2. Statistically there are no failures as long as patients are concordant with treatment guidelines 5.Can you give contact numbers of treated patients? “No” we have no permission 6.How to contact? Where is IAD situated in Kasaragod? Kotekani Road ,Near to New Bus Stand 9.How far it is from Mangalore? 55Km 10.Whom to contact first at IAD? Mrs Jayashree at front office. She can speak Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, English and understand Marathi 11.Is there any holiday for the institution? No. Except during political unrest (frequent in Kerala). Therefore please call at front office before you depart from your place. If you want to come on Sundays and national holidays please confirm your appointment twice. On these days only skeleton services will be available 12.What are the working hours in IAD? 9 AM-5PM 13.When counseling services are provided? 10 AM-2PM & 3PM-4PM during all working hours 14.When doctors’ services are available? We follow a little different approach than convention medical treatment pattern. We stress on health education. Therefore doctors will examine you only after your session with counselor and patients relations officer 15.Do you have any branches any where? Will begin an information centre at Bangalore soon 16.Can we meet doctors from all three systems: allopathy, ayurveda & homeopathy? Yes 17.What is counseling? Explaining about the integrated treatment procedures followed at the Institute of Applied Dermatology 18.Do we need to stay back on the day of counseling? No 19.Is there any registration fee? Yes 20.Do we need to take appointment before starting? Yes 21.Can we get immediate treatment? You may have to wait for at least one month before getting appointment for treatment. However we are making arrangements to meet the increasing demand for our services 22.What is the approximate treatment cost? Decided on the basis of time needed to manage your condition, materials and medicines to be used. For lymphodema (including Lymphatic Filariasis) it ranges from Rs20,000/- to 50,000/- 23.Whether IAD is a government body? No. 24.Do you have government support for this? No 25.Is there free treatment slots? We have treated 157 patients free so far. Nowadays we get only a few partial ponsorships 26.Are there any sponsorships available for treatment? All its treatment programs are currently unsponsored. We do get small sponsorships to treat Lymphatic Filariasis occasionally. The Institute of Applied Dermatology is making constant efforts towards obtaining sponsorships to treat the poor and the needy |

******************************************** 27.How many days we have to get admitted? Minimum 15 days 28.Is by stander a must? Yes for at least last 5 days of admission. This is because the lymphodema treatment is self care and lot of things has to be done at home after patient returns from the hospital. Hence it is important that a family member of the patients also learns these simple home care techniques 29.What else we have to bring while coming? Your daily wares and clothing. Please do not forget to bring your previous medical records 30.Is there accommodation and food facility? You can either stay in the hospital or near by hotels. Local Rural standard vegetarian hotels are located nearby 31.Can bystander stay with the patient? Yes it is possible 32.What are the medicines you are giving? It is integrated treatment and includes Ayurvedic, allopathic, yoga and whenever necessary combined with homeopathy as well 33.How many days we have to take medicine? Minimum 6 months for oral medication. Self care treatment procedures will have to be continued 34.Is there any food restriction? Yes we have diet chart 35.What is the follow up schedule? One month after discharge and at 3 months and 6 months 36.Is there any fee for follow up? Yes. It depends on the time spent with the patient 37.Do we need to stay back on the day of follow up? No 38.What is the cost of medicine during follow up? Minimum 2500.00-3500.00 per month
39.Can we get medicine by post/courier? Yes provided you make advance payment 40.What will happen if we stop the compression, massage and yoga? It is similar to stopping treatment for high blood pressure or diabetes. If medicines are stopped blood sugar level will increase. The disease likely to recur if treatment is stopped 41.Do you provide treatment to any other diseases Yes ,we treat Lichen Planus, Vitiligo, Psoriasis, and chronic wounds 42.How expensive is the integrated treatment? A minimum expense of Rs20,000/- during the first visit. The expenses will be far less during the subsequent visits 43.Do you have published articles? Yes we have published scientific articles in international journals 1:in lymphology published from USA 2: in Journal of lymphodema published from UK 3: in Wounds UK published from UK 4: in Journal of Alternative & Complimentary Medicine published from USA 44.Whether we have doing any surgery? No, only massage, Yoga and compression. 45.How far is the office from the hospital? Only 10 minutes. 46.Whether two or more of them can stay in the hospital? Yes, there is two beds, and attach bathroom. 47.Whether we can cook in the hospital? Yes, if you bring gas or stove. 48.Whether we are providing home nurses? No 49.Whether they can stay outside the hospital and come for the procedures? Yes 50.Whether the patient will be admitted in the first day of visit? No first patient have to attend the counseling session of the counseling patients are willing admission. |
