Prof Steven J Ersser
Steven. J. Ersser, RN, PhD (Lond), BSc (Hons), CertTHEd
Steven is Professor of Nursing Development & Skin Care Research in the School of Health & Social Care, at Bournemouth University. He holds the Established Chair in Health-related Research, a post he took up in June 2007. Steve is also the founding Director of the new Centre for Wellbeing and Quality of Life, which is a cross-University multidisciplinary academic centre we launched in October 2008. A decade ago, whilst in Oxford, he co-founded the International Skin Care Nursing Group (ISNG). He is Chair of the ISNG Advisory Board, which has become recognised as the voice ofdermatology nursijng internationally and is recignised both by all the main international dermatology organsiations and the International Council of Nurses.
He completed his PhD at King’s College, University of London. As a Senior Lecturer Oxford Brookes Univeristy he helped set up one of the first Masters courses in Advanced Health Care Practice. He is now a Visiting Professor of Nursing at Southampton. He was founding Chair the British Dermatological Nursing Group (BDNG) Scientific Committee and has been the first Research Consultant to the Dermatology Nurses Association and now the Dermatology Nursing Institute in the USA. He has published widely and lectured and examined internationally.. In 2006 he was awarded the Stone Award by the British Dermatology Nursing Group for his contribution to the international development of evidence-based dermatology nursing.
